Michael Doyle is an author, songwriter and certified Ocean Master whose life has spanned music, business, offshore sailing, imprisonment, recovery and a renewed Catholic faith. Rather than following a conventional career, his experiences have unfolded across very different worlds, each shaping the next and ultimately leading to the writing of his memoirs.
His principal work is Sane Inside Insanity, a memoir trilogy spanning more than five decades. It tells the true story of an ordinary life that became extraordinary through unexpected events—exploring ambition, addiction, imprisonment, recovery, friendship, justice, forgiveness and hope. More than a personal history, it is an invitation to reflect on the choices that shape every life and the possibility of finding meaning even in the darkest circumstances.

Alongside his writing, Michael has spent many years as a songwriter and recording artist. His music has been written and recorded in both London Britain and Nashville U.S.A. working with respected musicians and producers while developing a catalogue of original songs that continues to complement his literary work.
The Sea
The sea has formed another important chapter of Michael’s life. With extensive offshore sailing experience and the RYA/MCA Ocean Master qualification, he has combined a lifelong love of the water with professional maritime work. The discipline, responsibility and resilience demanded at sea continue to influence both his writing and everyday life.
Today
Today, Michael continues to write, compose music and prepare his books for publication while developing an online archive of photographs, songs and supporting material connected with his work. His aim is to create books that are not only engaging memoirs but lasting records of a remarkable journey through adversity, recovery and faith.
